Cincinnati OH, Feb. 12, 2019 — National Beer Wholesalers Association recently released the Beer Purchasers’ Index (BPI) for January 2019. The index surveys beer distributors’ purchases across different segments and compares them to previous years. A reading greater than 50 indicates the segment is expanding, while a reading below 50 indicates the segment is contracting. The January 2019 Beer Purchasers’ Index at 55 for total beer rose above the January 2018 index of 52. The January index reading broke a four-month trend of readings below 50 for the industry. This is also one of the highest readings the survey has recorded for a January over the past five years.
